Wire Fraud Advisory

Wire fraud targeting real estate closings is on the rise. Criminals impersonate title companies, real estate agents, or lenders and send fraudulent emails with revised wiring instructions to divert closing funds.

  • We will never change wiring instructions by email, and any change should be treated as suspicious.
  • Always verbally confirm wiring instructions before sending funds, using a phone number you look up independently — never one provided in an email.
  • Be cautious of any last-minute changes to payment or account information.

If you have questions about wiring instructions, or believe you may have received a fraudulent request, contact our office directly before sending any funds.

Title Ten HQ Adds CertifID to Strengthen Transaction Security

07/01/2026 · Title Ten HQ

Title Ten HQ is pleased to announce the addition of CertifID to our closing process, providing another layer of protection against wire fraud and identity-related risks in real estate transactions.

Wire fraud continues to be one of the most significant threats facing the real estate industry. Fraudsters may attempt to impersonate buyers, sellers, title companies, real estate professionals, or other parties to a transaction in an effort to redirect funds. As these schemes become increasingly sophisticated, protecting our customers requires a combination of strong internal controls, secure technology, and careful verification.

Beginning July 1, Title Ten HQ will utilize CertifID as part of our identity and banking verification procedures for applicable transactions.

Added Protection for Real Estate Transactions

CertifID provides a secure process for verifying the identity and banking information of transaction participants. By incorporating this technology into our existing procedures, Title Ten HQ can further reduce the risk of fraudulent or altered wiring instructions before funds are transferred.

Depending on the transaction, customers may receive a secure CertifID request asking them to complete an identity or account verification. These requests are designed to provide a straightforward verification experience while helping our team confirm important information through a secure channel.

Security Without Sacrificing Service

At Title Ten HQ, we believe technology should make the closing process safer and more efficient without losing the personal service our customers and partners expect.

The addition of CertifID complements the safeguards already incorporated into our escrow and closing procedures and provides our team with another tool to help identify potential fraud before funds are disbursed.

Customers should continue to remain vigilant throughout every real estate transaction. Unexpected changes to wiring instructions, unusual requests involving funds, or suspicious communications should always be independently verified with your Title Ten HQ escrow team using a known and trusted telephone number.

Continuing to Invest in Secure Closings

Adding CertifID reflects Title Ten HQ's continued investment in technology and processes designed to protect the people and funds entrusted to us.

As fraud tactics evolve, so must the safeguards used to combat them. We remain committed to strengthening our processes while providing the responsive, professional closing experience our customers, real estate professionals, lenders, and other partners rely on.

Relationships. Reliability. Results.
